The World Languages Department acknowledges that language is our connection to the community and to the world. Mindful of this fact, we empower students to communicate in languages other than English and provide them with the knowledge of cultures and social institutions of other peoples. We also set out to teach our students to be global citizens and achieve global competency through the study of global issues and leadership, at the high school level.

Our Call to Action

Slogans are a catchy and clever way to help bring about awareness on important issues. Join us and create your own slogans to be shared that relate to current problems throughout the world in order to promote a targeted problem identified by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Students in a level IV Spanish class have set forth to develop a slogan to promote a targeted problem identified by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for the Spanish Speaking population of the world. Students have spent time familiarizing themselves with the goals in both Spanish and English.  They then identified an international problem occurring in a Spanish speaking area of the world that directly relates to the UN SDGs by researching international articles for current issues.   The next step is to develop an image and slogan (in Spanish and English) to be used for spreading awareness/educating the community on the issue they have chosen.  One way they will share their work is via a digital gallery that will be shared with the school community. Students will also post to our world languages instagram to further exhibit their work and help spread awareness.
