The Latvian Association of Local and Regional Governments (LALRG) is a public organisation associating local go­vernments of the Republic of Latvia on voluntary basis. The LALRG functions as a representative, advocate and advisor of the local governments in Latvia and Europe. We contribute to the development of municipal policies, solve common problems and defend interests of local governments. During the last years the LALRG has become fascionate about informing Latvian municipalities about SDGs and their localisation. Seriers of informative seminars have been organised, as well as common activities with youth from Jaunpils municipality have been successfully implemented.

On 25/09 there will be 2 parallel events on SDG 11: international seminar "Sustainable municipalities - inclusive, safe, resilient" (Riga, Latvia) and youth activities on the topic of SDG 11 (Jaunpils, Latvia). Seminar: will be wholly devoted to the topic of sustainability and diffrent perceptions of this term by European municipalities, ministries and NGOs. The audience will hear and see best practice examples on how to promote sustainability through planning and management with the perspective of better life quality for our next generations. Youth activities: youth in Jaunpils secondary school will have discussions on SDG 11, specifically on how to provide universal access to safe, inclusive and accessible, green and public spaces, in particular for women and children, older persons and persons with disabilities. This youth group has been involved in different SDGs' related activities since 2017.
