For 18 years, São Paulo Municipal Secretariat of Education (SME, in Portuguese acronym) has been implementing activities related to Media and Information Literacy (MIL) as public policy in the framework of teachers trainning and also radio and multimedia students projects. These activities, developed by municipal schools of São Paulo, inspired the elaboration of a Municipal Law nº 13.941/2004, regulated by Municipal Decree nº 46.211/2005, which brings in its article 3 the specific mention of Media Literacy to all population as a goal of radio and multimedia projects in public schools. Within this perspective, more than 60.000 teachers and 25.000 students of municipal schools of São Paulo have been trainned and involved in these projects so far, resulting reduction of violence, engagement of culture of peace and citizenship. SME teachers trainning and students projects related to MIL are developed by the Educommunication Nucleus under the Technical Nucleos of Curriculum (NTC, in Portuguese acronym), including activities related to SDGs as a painting wall with students information about SDG (available in QRCode), SDGs Telejournalism Program produced by students and MIL and SDGs projects ideas created by teachers. SME, in partnership with UNESCO Brasil, developed the new primary school curriculum, which integrates the 2030 Agenda, connecting its learning objectives to each of the 17 SDGs. In 2019, Educommunication Nucleus has been offering 4000 teachers trainnings, coordinating students projects in 250 schools and, in a very innovative way, offers an app (http://app.vc/educomsme) that allows schools access materials, apply for teachers trainning or schedule a technical visit to support in loco the development of projects.
